Clarification -- No hate for Spanish (the modern ones)

Many in my circle have ask (or accused) if I deny or otherwise hate my Spanish roots.  So many have in fact, that I feel I need to clarify....

For the record, I do NOT hate the Spanish people.  Matter of fact I especially enjoy their national soccer team (world champs) and FC Barcelona. -- so.. NO... I don't hate the modern Spaniard.... nor do I hate Europeans simply because they are Europeans.....

One of the main reasons for all of my verbal dissent and online swagger and boasting is to inform, enlighten, educate and REMIND everyone that the history books were written by the victors.  And of course… they talked about our 'other' ancestry, our native ancestry, VERY VERY bad.  -- They had to.  How else could they justify the atrocities committed some 500 years ago... Every conquering nation does it…. They demean, degrade the “enemy” so it’s easier to commit the acts of war….. – speaking of demeaning…. calling someone "illegal" is not good... It will be inferred by some, that illegal means less than human and calling someone that should upset everyone…  (that topic is for a different rant)...
The thing that bugs me the most (one of the things), that really gets my proverbial goat is: Right here in the US of A... Educators, the Government, and disappointingly MANY "Hispanics/Latinos" simply accept the history books as written and don’t want to change.

Forget about me and my so-called denying of my “Spanish” roots….. What about all my brothers and sisters who deny or otherwise suppress their native heritage???

Let the record also show...  I am NOT denying my Spanish roots. I KNOW and accept somewhere in my heredity a Spaniard mixed with an American Native and voila.

My beliefs, grito, verbiage, thoughts…. are more ANTI-current-Native-American-HISTORY than anything...!!!! -- If the history books in our schools won't change, then WE need to continue the tradition of our ancestors... Using oral history... MAKE sure our youth understand that our original native ancestors were NOT savages, they did NOT live a tribal nomad lifestyle, and the Spanish Conquistadors did NOT "save" us with their Christianity..... WE were a great civilization… Yes!! The “C” word… Civilization!!!!! and we were doing just FINE !!!  As a matter of fact, I’d bet their mythology killed (and continues to kill) a HECK of a lot more people than ours ever did.

I write this... with all due respect to our mothers and fathers, many of whom devoted their lives to “La Virgin” or “Dios” or the Church blindly.  I don’t hate you.. I know it was how you were brought up…. as were your parents and their parents…… and so on… since around 1521.  

PS: I am very thankful to my Mom, who always encouraged my to think freely, “Si lo manda Dios” ! lol

Assimilation

Hater's down here in Texas are always spewing about "assimilation"....
And how if "hispanics" want to be taken seriously they should assimilate to the "American" way of life.
I've got news for all of them.... This IS my American way of life... idiots !!!!!

About me

I guess I should introduce myself to anyone who may click his/her way past my blog….

My pen (blog?) name is, Nine Vulture (9 Vulture).  It’s a native Mexican Indian thing…..

I am Chicano or Xicano..(for now)..

That means my heredity is Mexican Indian mixed with early Spaniard way back in my lineage.  Way too far back for me to consider myself “Spanish” or “Hispanic”….

I’m in the middle of researching my genealogy right now, so I’m not for sure, but, my guess is that the Spanish part of me was probably due to a rape or a forced slave kinda relationship 500 or so years ago.

In most polls, applications, census, etc… I get ‘categorized’ as Latino or Hispanic. – I’ve always disliked those labels, “Latino/Hispanic.” 

Latino:  The only thing “Latin” about me is my wife who’s heredity is Italian/Irish.

Hispanic: Doesn’t really fit, it’s kind of like saying… “I’m a survivor of the mass genocide committed way back against the native population of the Americas.” 

I also don't care for the hyphenated American, like, “Mexican-American.”  So much so that whenever I find myself chatting, talking, blogging with someone who likes to categorize/label people, I tend to use the term “Euro-American” when describing those that are typically called “white”.  Please don’t take offense…. It’s just that I hope they realize how stupid and demeaning it is to hyphenating Americans.

So if you must label me, first call me American…. Then, call me: Chicano. --- from what I understand, Chicano, is derived from Meshica. The real name of what the world calls, the Aztec peoples. – Of course, if I ever finish my genealogy studies it may mean I change it to Toltec or Maya or something else… but, for now, it fits !!

Sorry to disappoint my Spanish speaking brothers and sisters but, I don’t speak Spanish very well at all.  And I DON’T want to learn it either…. (see above about the Spaniards and the rape and genocide, etc…)

And one more thing that is important about me… I don’t “worship” or otherwise believe that some heavenly being created us and looks down upon us, therefore we should always do good in his name.  (again, see above about the Spaniards)….

-- IMPORTANT NOTES: 

            - I don’t have anything against your beliefs… and if a book, a god, or a trinity helps you do good things, then, great.  Just don’t push that on me. 

            - If you are a racist or a hater or don't believe in basic Human Rights, then I don't want to know you.

- I promise to treat you and yours with respect until you give me reason not to… fair enough? – no book or any mythology needed !!!
